The applicant will work with a team of professionals to design, develop and present concepts for consumable manufactured goods. You should have the capabilities to balance between innovative engineering design, functional requirements and aesthetic appeal. Key Accountabilities: - Provide structure and basic design disciplines. - Interface with OEM’s, ODM’s and OBM’s. - Responsible for design, product planning and development. - Identify, evaluate and select materials. - Market research and commercial awareness. Design Responsibilities: • Sketching initial design ideas; • Brainstorming as part of a team or developing design concepts using computer-aided design; • Taking part in specialist or multidisciplinary team meetings; • Identifying the suitability and availability of materials; • Producing detailed, final hand drawings and specifications or, more likely, using dedicated computer software (CAD) to produce design specifications, including parts lists and costing; • Making samples or working models by hand or using computerized prototyping equipment; • Testing the design concept by computerized modeling or physical hands-on testing of models; • Problem-solving and finding solutions to sometimes complex electro-mechanical problems; • Researching materials, processes or market requirements; • Arranging meetings and liaising with engineers and other departments, including marketing, to discuss and negotiate appropriate production processes, costs and commercial issues; • Occasionally traveling to production facilities and evaluating the feasibility of production; • Making presentations to senior design management, to present design proposals.

Skills/attributes required for the role: • Proven experience in a design environment. • Outstanding creativity with the ability to help project managers solve most complex design problems. • A strong portfolio of work. • A thorough knowledge of design software’s such as: CAD and rendering skills by Catia and 3D Max. • The ability to progress projects from initial brief to completion and make design ready for manufacturing. • Good organizational skills and be able to priorities work. • The ability to work to tight deadlines and work extra when required. • The ability to handle multiple jobs at any one time. • Good communication and people skills and display a flexible approach to work. • A highly motivated self-starter, who is able to carry their own weight with internal and external clients.
