Frequently Asked Questions

Back to FAQ

Q. Why am I not receiving daily e-mails?

A: Check your Junk, Spam, or Bulk mail folder (every ISP names it differently) and see if they are going to that account. They should be there. It's also possible your ISP is blocking them.

Add [email protected] and [email protected] (those of you with a Personal Mall add [email protected] ) to your SAFE list in your Contacts List or Address Book (again wording dependent on your ISP set up). Also ensure you are looking in the e-mail account you set up for your MyPowerMall - some folks made up special accounts for this. If this is the case, they will not forward to your primary e-mail account unless you have put a forwarding option on).

It is also possible your Email provider has blocked our emails and you will not be able to receive them. This is the primary reason we also provide the RSS Feed. Check your RSS Feed on a regular basis. All company updates will be there as well.

Q. How do I know I'm getting credit for the product I buy through my mall?

A. Go to your Mall and then go to a store, or look for a product in Hot Deals. Put your cursor over it and then look down at the left bottom of your screen. You will see an URL that reads: http://www.mypowermall.com/storeurlredirect.asp?MPM_ID=101&id=40854.

When you look at it – the number after MPM_ID should be your MPM ID#. The number at the end is the store number. This code allows us to accurately track every purchase made from your Mall so you will get credit.

You will also be able to check your purchases from your back office by clicking on Sales Report.

Q: How do I change my mall name?

A: Go to: http://www.mypowermall.com/biz/home/mall# and type in your Key Code #, click submit, look to the left of the web page, find Update Your Info, click on it, and change your mall name.

Back to FAQ

Q: I registered with MPM and haven't received my Welcome Confirmation. What do I do?

A: Contact [email protected] and provide your name and the e-mail address you used during registration.

Back to FAQ

Q: Why is my Key Code not working?

A: Ensure you type it as you see it –alpha letters are upper case, if you see an O – it can be the Letter O or the number Zero (zeros are not as wide), the Letter I is mistaken as the Number one – look closely, and don't add an extra space at the end of the key code.

Back to FAQ

Q: Why is my Business Mall Center link not working? I keep getting an error.

A: Make sure you typed it correctly and don't type a forward slash (/) at the end of the hyperlink as it will come up as a page error. Example: http://www.mypowermall.com/mall/mall#.

Back to FAQ

Q: I cannot open any of the stores from MPM. I am also unable to get the sales or commission report. It just says "done, with errors" and nothing comes up. If I type the website address in for the stores I can open them, it is only when I click on the link that I cannot open.

A: Our store website opens in a new window (or tab in Netscape) so you don't lose focus of the mall. If you have pop-up blockers on, the stores may not open. The sales and commission reports must have the pop-up blockers off to view them. Unfortunately, I can't cover all instances of these pop-up blockers. Some are built into Anti-virus software. Others are built into toolbars like Google's and Yahoo's. All pop-up blockers can be disabled. They can even be temporarily disabled as in the case of Google's toolbar by holding the Ctrl key down and then clicking on the link.

If you find the above information is not the problem, then it may be an issue with your installation of IE, Netscape, or JavaScript.

Q: I just set up a business mall (#) and was given access number (#). I must have put the wrong number in the blank, because the email postcards I sent do not give access to my mall. I tried every way of reentering the information that I could think of, to no avail. Will you help me set it up right so the people I sent the ecards to won't be confused?

A: The MPM marketing invitation cards are coded with your business landing page (http://www.mypowermall.com/biz/home/mall#) – you are inviting others to join this business venture and you are offering them information regarding this business opportunity to make an informed decision. They can go to your mall from here if they click on the white wording just below the MPM Banner titled Shop. Please note your Mall shopping site is: http://www.mypowermall.com/mall/mall#.

The keycode needs to be typed in exactly as you see it - the alpha letter has to be upper case and do not add an extra space after the 1 (the cursor should be flashing right behind it).

Back to FAQ

Q. Do I have two websites? What are they for?

A. If you signed up for a Business Mall, yes, you have two websites.

http://www.mypowermall.com/biz/home/mall# - This is your Business Center – where you will send people to invite them to have their own FREE Power Mall. You can also login to your back office from here.

http://www.mypowermall.com/mall/mall# – This is your Shopping Mall. We encourage you to make this your home page so you will remember to shop in your very own Power Mall.

Q. Can I join My Power Mall if I don't live in the US, or have a US Social Security #?

A. We welcome all our International members and are working hard to make My Power Mall a great thing no matter what part of the world you live in! We were surprised when so many International members joined us, but we are committed to making MPM a powerful company for everyone.

  1. While we are an American company, we use an International payment system that will allow us to pay you online for all rebates earned. You will receive further details soon.
  2. While we are working toward having a truly International Mall, it will take us some time to identify merchants who will ship to all the countries our International members represent. Please know we are working hard at it! As you're exploring My Power Mall, if you find a merchant who will ship to your country -- wonderful! In the meantime, while you are welcome to sign up members anywhere in the world, your strategy should include reaching out to American shoppers through Internet marketing. Americans, at this time, will most benefit from shopping on the Mall. Giving them Malls, and knowing they can shop easily, will allow you to create exciting income from an MPM business anywhere in the world.
  3. In the meantime, you can use Mail & Package forwarding. There is additional cost involved, but they forward packages anywhere in the world. Go to: AccessUSA (http://www.myus.com) to set up an account. We are working on adding them to our Mall so you can receive rebate checks. Please check your mall first. Rebate checks will be in U.S. funds, sent to the address of your choice.

Q. Can a non-profit join My Power Mall?

A. Absolutely! We are excited about helping as many non-profits as possible earn income from My Power Mall. Here's the strategy we suggest. Whatever your connection with the NPO, go ahead and sign yourself up first. Then, register your NPO with My Power Mall. Your NPO Power Mall is the website you will send people to get their own Power Mall. As money is generated, it will pay the NPO and then pay you – ensuring you are making a difference in the world while you are also gaining financial freedom for yourself!

Q. Are the rebates tax free for a Non-Profit?

A. No. All rebates will be considered Unrelated Business Income for a non-profit. Since it is our commitment to provide relevant information in order to help as many people and organizations as we can, we offer this rather lengthy description of UBIT (Unrelated Business Income Tax) to help you understand the issue.

Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT) is often misunderstood, and therefore feared, by Non-Profit organizations. While it deserves understanding – it need not be feared.

In regard to an organization’s decision to utilize My Power Mall, let’s begin with the assumption that the income will most likely be considered Unrelated Business Income. The income from your E-Mall is not directly related to your mission. The IRS will require tax to be paid on this income.

Is that a bad thing? That depends. Any UBI needs to be evaluated from the position of Cost & Return. More and more Non-Profits are turning to more traditional business ventures in order to generate income. The realities of our economy, coupled with the reality of 1 Million+ organizations vying for people’s money, makes surviving solely off donations a difficult thing.

Consider just a few:

  •  The American Diabetes association receives millions in UBI
  • The Lance Armstrong Foundation cites almost half their income from UBI
  • The National Kidney Foundation receives hundreds of thousands from UBI
  • Over half of the American Bible Society’s income is from UBI

It’s really very simple. Unrelated Business Income only creates a problem if the taxes are not paid. The NPO's attorney and accountant should be aware of the income so they can file a 990-T. They will pay taxes on the income, and then have the remaining income for their organization.

The only real issue with UBI is the Cost/Return ratio. If the organization is running a business venture that is not making money then they have a problem. If their business venture is returning income to their organization once all the expenses (cost, time, staff, etc.) have been calculated, then they have a positive addition to their Non-Profit’s overall mission.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at their possible involvement with MPM. There are several things to consider:

COSTS

Upfront Cost:  Zero $$

MPM is provided at no charge.

Staff Time to Implement Mall:  Zero to minimal

Zero -- if the organization chooses an MPM Business Center all those signing up for their own MPM Business Centers receive information directly from us. There is no time commitment here on behalf of the organization. This is especially true if you are getting their permission and then doing all the work on their behalf.

Minimal -- if the organization chooses a MPM Personal Mall, they will want to forward the MPM Weekly Specials email and the Shopping Alerts to their constituents and have a link on their website to their Mall. They will also want to put information in their newsletters, eZines, mailings, etc. asking people to shop on their Mall as a new, easy, powerful way of support.

RETURNS

Your return depends on the size of your supporter base, as well as their commitment to shopping.

The most important thing to factor into an organization’s decision is the reality that they have no ongoing costs for the income generated from MPM. Paying UBIT on income they've done little to generate is a smart financial decision for the future of their organization.

We have invested $500,000 in money and offer a model any organization can use to create additional income.
